The amount of people here defending guwon saying he was “doing the right thing” and theyre ungrateful are actually delusional, guwon killed men women and children alike, we saw it with the doctor, he didnt even give him the option to refuse he just killed his wife and kids and took him. “They could just leave if theyre unhappy” dude guwon probably killed anyone that they had left outside, the only thing left for them would be to seek revenge or some kind of freedom from both their own guilt and guwon.
I like guwon, at the end of the day i dont think he could even tell what he was doing wrong, but lets not kid ourselves by saying the townsfolk were ungrateful and are shitty for “backstabbing” the guy that killed their friends and family.
I swear you people would fawn over anyone and ignore their wrongdoings as long as theyre hot.
So after a solid 8-9 hour reading session i finished the main story of the novel and im just gonna leave some spoilers for those who need it, i do recommend the novel but i had issues with it.
First of all Maximus is of course end game and hes probably one of the greenest flags ive seen in a while, very refreshing.
Now as for tiberius, he does regret and suffer for what hes done but i would describe it less like genuine guilt and love for hadi and more like self pity and obsession. Later in the story he will kidnap hadi and keep him as a slave even raping him. It is not explicit rape but the scenes make it very clear that hadi really doesnt like it and he basically disossiates the whole time while tiberius does whatever he wants.
Hes honestly never repentant beyond his own selfish desires and the scene where hadi forgives him leaves a bitter taste in my mouth only soothed knowing he will spend the rest of his life miserable.

I think my problem with these stories is that the rapist always ends up with the victim. I get that ml “atones” (still marks mc without explaining the whole truth though which i think shows how hes still a very selfish person.) but i just think that atonement would have been better and much more impactful if they went their seperate ways at the end. Its okay to have a story where a horrible person atones for their sins but dont make them get together with their rape victim like.
I had the same problem with cozy obsession, except i would argue the ml in cozy obsession did even more horrible things and didnt do nearly as much to atone.
I get why this sudden turn in the story comes as a suprise to so many people, lord knows i fucking hate it. But the red flags were there slready, i mean remember the side plot from season 3 where a guy got fuckin beaten over the head, kidnapped and raped anf the story basically treated it as “got what he deserved”, i remember that making me very upset when i read it and it felt so out of character for thid story. All of this trash seems like it stemmed from the same part of the authors brain.
Within just three chapters this author depicted violent rape, made the victim comfort the attacker and invented a new flavor of homophobia!
Manwha authors should be studied, i feel like a lot could be learned about the effects of brain damage if we did!
At first i was interested, i thought i would get to see a toxic relationship that didnt rely on rape for its toxicity, but ml still rapes mc. I guess thats on me for expecting anything more from a bl manwha, the entire genre only knows one way to do toxic relationships after all.
Also the whole thing felt extremely rushed towards the end, no real resolution for the drama nor mcs previous relationship. I suppose i also ought to comment on the portrayal of mental illness.
Now this is coming from someone with a habit of self harm and suicidal ideation but i think the portrayal is very mixed. I enjoy that his actions arent just excused for being mentally ill but over all it still feels like babys first time handling a heavy subject.
Over all it feels line a poorly written attempt at a serious nuanced story that ultimately fails both in its portrayal of its subject matter, but also in progressing beyond its initial setup.

Dropping this at chapter 30, ml is a manipulative prick who uses his problems as a way to coerce the mc into doing sexual things with him, their first sex scene is forceful and a classic example of bl “mc says no and that it hurts and cries but its fine cause he learns to like it” garbage.
Middest mid that ever midded, it had its moments but for the most part was largely uninteresting and especially the last quarter was bad with the whole kidnapping arc.
