After the trial relationship was ended by Dane, Grayson got kidnapped ( he was depressed and thought what Dane would do, or it never would have happened).
Dane takes a lot of risks, wants to save everyone. ( Before anyone says that it is what a firefighter should do, because of his trauma he doesn't care what happens to him, was only achored by Darling.). He was seriously injured, almost died, defusing a bomb to save a village while they ( him and Josh) rescued Grayson.

And dominant alphas are extremely possessive, they don't want to share their partners etc. Could go from locking them up to killing them (and then killing themselves).
Grayson struggled with the later and ended up setting Dane free from himself, wishing for him to live a happy life without him, so he walked away. Something you didn't see any of the other dominant alphas's of the author do. It was an act of selfless love.


Why they were together in the end? After Dane was depressed and in denial for weeks ( difficult to tell how long, probably 2-3 months +/-). He got trapped in a fire. And Grayson came to save him. Dane, who has on the brink of death again, finally came to terms with his feelings and accepted them.

Wait. The part where Grayson set Dane free, is that the trial break up or a different break up? So more break ups? Darn.

Also they still were intimate with each other (even if Dane wasn’t fully open or admit feelings) before finally establishing relationship officially in end, right? I don’t mind if relationships are established at end but I definitely want intimacy happening throughout story. Doesn’t have to be a whole bunch

Dane breaks off the trial relationship before it ends, because he becomes aware that Grayson really loves him and Dane is still in denial.
Grayson get's kidnapped after that, after the rescue Dane is for a long time in the hospital, in a critical condition. Dane as it is actually obvious is depressed and missed his pretty one since the end of the trial relationship, but the denial is really strong in him. So after Dane is released from the hospital, Grayson takes care of Danes housing, legal stuff, and car. He also shows him in Disneyland that people care about him, that he is a hero. And then tells him in Disneyland about his killing thoughts, that this can't be love, and that he will leave him. He wants Dane to be happy. Well Dane's depression only gets worse.^^ That sex addict started to live like a monk.lol
Actually I think after the first time with "Virginia", he didn't have sex with anyone else, first Grayson interfered and later he didn't want to.lol
