I know you know that. But god damn the amount of people of people didn't know is baffling, again there's even claim which is not true

rather than innacurate, its moreso a big reinterpretation that keeps the core elements while massively changing the underlying dynamics. Obviously its not a word to word illustration of the original myth, who would want to read that? But it's heavily inspired by it. And keeps many plots points. And most importantly (and thats what makes something faithful to the original myth imo), this manhwa is true to the underlying logic and rules of the egyptian culture. Its not imposing a foreign lens on it. It follows hos the ancient egyptians understood the universe, death, power, and nature. Like I'd recommend this to anyone who 1) likes yaoi 2) likes egyptian mythology.

I do agree with you based on everything that I still remember but abt "who would want to read that?" I have a very clear memory of getting excited to read something related to Egyptian mythology even though yes it did change plenty of interpersonal relationships within the gods. But it is still enjoyable enough story for anyone to read even if they have only a bit of interest in Egyptian mythology. On top of everything, I remember sharing this with my specific group of friends who not only enjoy Yaoi but also are interested in Egyptian mythology. So, please. Above all finding any good story which is set in Egyptian mythology is rare. Egyptian mythology is something that I feel like people admire and learn more about but there are very rare people who can write a story about it or anything inspired by it. And I don't think it is people's problem. I think it is more of the Market it self. You see, most novels, manhwas or mangas are either set in ancient China or european uhmm like similar to Victorian era. And to be honest, an ancient Chinese or Victorian era european novel or manhwa or manga would sell 5 times more better than any other novel based on any other civilization. And here we are talking about both the writers and artists being completely new and don't have anyother published or well-known book. Market is already used to refer Victorian era or ancient china as the only settings in a "historical" genre. I have personally came across very few novels or manhwas or mangas which are successful and is not placed on those two settings. And I think that is one of the reasons why I like not only the book but also the author. I really think author is courageous for creating an manhwa set on this setting and especially for it to be a retelling of Egyptian mythology. I mean no offense but see the market and see what they are usually offering you and then see this manhwa and see what this is offering. Thank you if you have read till here.

Actually Egyptian mythology was big thing in the 80s. It than to be horror gene or book series.

Example are song like "Walk like the Egyptian" by the The Bangles and the song "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire album covers is clearly Egyptian

And cartoon show "Mummies Alive!" and Series "Stargate" (granted this 90s series)

Egyptian mythology sadly don't have enough reliable record to be intriguing besides the Greek record, which is also a little bit unreliable because some reason. And if there is? Perhaps what OP was saying is that most of the popular Chinese BL (danmei) Manhua’s are set in ancient China? Like TGCF, 2ha, MDZS, those have a ton of traction and massively popular especially since most of them are adapted from novels.
