i feel like people expect every story to be 100% wholesome when this is just not that. the other has another work that’s super cute, so i think who are hoping for something wholesome should just read that instead of criticizing this.
sweet fucking jesus, do you literally understand what critical thinking is? are people supposed to clap their asses and jerk off over seeing violence? pipi
ofc not, but I don’t think anyone is jerking off to this? you knew what you signed up for man, we’ve known Jihwan is crazy for ages atp. Critical thinking is understanding a story can have depth and be interesting without run-of-the-mill green flag wholesome moments.
I get your point, but i do feel like the manipulation here has kind of degraded in quality. Ironically, the ML seemed smarter before he went awol, back when it was more about emotionally manipulating the MC discreetly. That way he could at least feel loved by the MC.
Now, hes quite literally just physically forcing the MC into shape, and then aggravating him further with that recording of his mom. That part made no sense. If he had sweet talked the mom and made her feel grateful for being upgraded to a better hospital, that mightve actually made the MC stay with him. It wouldve guilted the MC into staying, but instead the ML guilted the mom which made the MC lash out.
It feels like the ML used to be more clever 'crazy possessive red flag'. Now he's just a regular 'crazy possessive' trope.

Yes! I think some people forget he’s the MC’s age too, not any older or smarter. Also, he’s tapering off of medication he’s been taking since childhood.
I recommend looking at the raws to kind of see how he behaves. He used to be more clever, I agree, but I think he just no longer cares to conceal his innate nature because he’s off his meds and also doesn’t care to understand others emotions.

no one expects every story to be 100% wholesome??? people are criticizing the characters' actions, not asking the author to rewrite the story. a story can be dark, complex, and well-written while still having characters whose behavior deserves criticism. that's what critical thinking actually is.

Well, obviously I didn’t mean every single person right? I think we’re both thinking similar things just worded differently. I just feel like the criticism Jihwan is receiving is kind of going in the wrong direction.

Idk if it's just me, but I find the chars to be quite flat now. It feels like they're just falling into very standard 'crazy possessive rich guy' x 'meek poor guy' tropes, like theyre following these patterns and theres nothing more to it.
There's no overarching plot anymore, I have no idea where any of them are headed, and theres basically nothing unique at this point. Before, the ML was emotionally manipulative in a way that was at least clever, and we were all holding our breaths to see what would happen once the MC got his college responses. Right now, besides the ML's possessiveness, theres pretty much no defining trait for this story
