Yeah but I’m saying that the author isn’t trying to make an excuse for her character. You don’t have to like her, or feel bad for her. That’s not what the author is trying to do, they’re trying to give the consort depth in her personality so she won’t be boring. And personally, I think the author’s choice is good because usually female villains are just there to make the fl look better as a contrast, but Cleo is her own person. Even if she’s a terrible person. Idk if you noticed, but the double standards for female vs male villains are crazy. Villain men are seen as hot, charming, their evil attributes make them so desirable ("if evil, why hot?"). But the moment it's a woman doing it, she gets jumped.
Bro I'm not hating the author for wanting to have a villain like her have a background. I'm saying that I will hate her forever cause she's already a great villain for me. No need to add more background stories or excuse. And fyi, I don't judge any villain base on their 'looks' I judge every villain equally, Cleo is pretty, but already evil if you think about how she uses a vulnerable child who doesn't have anyone by her side. Both was illegitimate and their mother were cast aside, but Cleo didn't want to sympathize with her or leave her alone and used her to her advantage. That's enough reason for me to hate her.
