What the hell is the point of him being the ML? He literally doesn’t do ANYTHING other than add to her misery. Yes, I understand that there is a reason for it, that his emotions are sealed but so what? Just because there’s a reason for his behavior doesn’t mean that the romance is any less terrible. Sorry, I can’t bring myself to root for him
He has a spell to protect the two sibling, so he can’t go against that. She makes him have feelings he doesn’t understand. The anger was toward the prince not her, but because of the spell the queen put on him he can’t do a thing on them and the woman he have feelings for is the one « harming » them.
So what? Does she know that? No! So at the end of the day, he only makes her miserable by saying that stuff. Everything he says to her is REAL to her
You only feel this way because you haven’t attached yourself in his shoes the way you have with the FL. The FL has her own shitty qualities and shitty choice of words that she has said to the ML AND other regular people. They both have trauma & have said rude comments to each other. Did we also not see how innocent and kinder they were when both of them were kids? The interaction between them when they had first met was cute & innocent. This is a nurture problem & both of them can mature and change as the story progresses
What a surprise that the ML who has been taught and traumatized to protect the siblings & to be used as a political pawn, isn’t lovestruck with the FL?
I don’t disagree with you! He has the right to hate her because she hasn’t been the most pleasant person to be around. Which is my big issue, if that’s the case and you’re writing to be drier than the Sahara, what’s the point of making him the ML? He is so un-compelling, plain, and boring and their childhood isn’t enough to justify making him the ML. They’ve both thrown venom and hate towards each other so why make them the love interests!!! So fuckin boring.
I’ll stand by what I said and say that he adds literally NOTHING to the story other than be the object of desire for the ML and add to her misery!

Well, apart from how its still too early to judge whether the ML contributes to the story. I don’t think its fair to say he adds nothing to the story
Politically, he’s deeply tied to the conflict between the imperial siblings. And he has a powerful role that can shift the balance in power. He was also raised to be a political pawn so his role is beyond just the ML
And as love interest, their childhood interaction isn’t the only reason. He was her bodyguard for years, they have a long history that we haven’t seen yet. They’ve built bad and good interactions with each other that their relationship is built around whether it could progress with society making it impossible to. This is a good showcase of enemies to lovers even if they internally like each other
Also, their interaction as kids wasn’t just a kind gesture. He was basically her hope as she was being treated horribly by everyone including her mother. She experienced kindness from someone for the first time even if it wasn’t that big of a scene to us
imma just hope that she stays loyal to the ML no matter what, i can’t the 2nd ml trope but i have hope that she will prioritize her relationship with black haired ml because only they understand each other due to their shared trauma

I really enjoy the knights POV and his interactions with the FL. I might just be selfish but I think in order for the FL to heal then she should be freed from her toxic attachment to the ML and find someone outside from her toxic environment…I think the knight would do great in that aspect. I just don’t think the FL ending up with the ML is the best option, it seems like it affirms her horrible actions in a way.
