Well mr Gu gets even more cruel towards Cheongwoo so Cheongwoo decides to starve himself and ends up in a hospital. This is not enough to make me Gu feel any type of remorse but he pays of all of Cheongwoo’s debts and gets medical care for his grandma then when Cheongwoo gets out of the hospital mr Gu traps him in the Gu family mansion and allows him to communicate with his grandma only by letters and phone calls. Eventually because Cheongwoo feels very relieved that grandma is doing better he develops a Stockholm syndrome and even gifts mr Gu the acorn bracelet he made for his grandma. The conclusion is that even at the very end mr Gu doesn’t feel like he has done anything remotely wrong and he breaks Cheongwoo’s spirit and body so much that Cheongwoo just gives up and accepts his fate and even gaslights himself into believing he loves mr Gu.

I guess we are around 70% done with the story so I don’t think the manhwa will diverge at all from the novel.
