I don't think its 'Grooming'... Like he was a anonymous donor, sponsoring a kid through program (tho he was the one who made the program). But he did it anonymously and Jun lost his memories about him too. They got in contact because little Jun wanted to and not even in those time he went down like a predator, he didn't manipulate him for the purpose of sexual, emotional, or physical exploitation.
And again in grooming, the perpetrator targets, manipulate, isolate.
Jun was not isolated, he have normal social life and all, and they meet at the end because Ido was done with all his planning and that he can die without worrying, he wanted to die and leave everything for Jun (as he explained).
The story have some interesting 'point of view' about death for me, but maybe I just like stupid stories....
I can’t really take it in that manner because the ML kept tabs on MC for years. Whether he was still communicating with him or not. I would have been willing to let it slide if they met only once in the MC’s childhood, which was what almost happened but he took it a step further by allowing communication and then having surveillance for him after that ended. A simple helping the kid out once (which he did with the car ride) and if he really wanted to, some financial support (after the accident) but without ever communicating with him. This includes never watching him or thinking about him. Then by some miracle they meet as adults but both parties don’t know each other.
If I may..... Ido lost his entire family. His mom, dad, and then brother. Ido is no saint. He's damaged, and I think that's the point. I think he developed an unhealthy attachment to Jun because of what he went through with his family. Add in, that he didn't finish the medicine fast enough to save his brother. His missed the phone call so Jun almost died because he wasn't fast enough. Jun was still alive but suffered brain trauma. I think he was triggered, and that's why he went to such lengths to sponsor him and save him. His family is why humans are now essentially immortal, but they are also all dead. Most people would be a little messed up by that. We don't even know how old Ido is so we don't know how long he's lived with this survivor's guilt. Humans only die from injury, not age or illness. He could be 100 yrs old. I really don't think there was anything 'inappropriate' in the sense of grooming, abuse, or mal-intent. I completely agree he didn't go about it in the best way, and it comes across kinda creepy, but I don't think what he did was bad.
In no point did I call him a groomer. I said his interest in MC after all that happened was weird and he should have gone about it differently. I would have found their relationship less off putting, but, since that isn’t the case, then yeah I can’t brush off viewing what occurred as not weird. Trauma or no trauma, it was a very strange way to go about things. (Unless you’re referring to the original commenter, if so then, I suggest you learn to reply to the proper comment.)
