My friend and I are both experiencing heavy abuses in our homes, and I just received a text from her saying that her family is abusing her rn and she says that she wants to run away and that she is so tired of living. I texted her back saying "I know it's hard right now but please I'm begging you please don't give up."
I don't want her to give up just yet because why, why must a person die just because of their parents action, I know I'm a hypocrite for saying this considering all the attempts I made but LORD, ANYONE PLEASE please don't take her away from me
I want to help her but I'm powerless, we're both just grade 11 students but I don't want her to give up. I don't want another angel to be taken away from me.
What are we supposed to do? Go to authorities? We can't, the system here in the Philippines is shit and even if we go to them they will still give us back to our parents once everything is "settled".
I'm trying to earn just a bit on FB because my parents stopped giving me money (we fought and they stopped giving me money), I still can't earn on FB so I'm willing to do ANYTHING. ANYTHING so please help us.
Is there a way for you to discretely sell clothes/old items to second hand stores? I do that but it’s also because my country has our own version of eBay

you can sell news papers or cardboard boxes too and if you know knitting or some other skill you can earn from it too. but please in order to earn money DO NOT SELL something really important to you , very very important.
Hey I agree with the previous comment about knitting. Other things I can think of (based on what I remember from my classmates back in uni)
- polaroid picture printing. They started from classmates which expanded to other classes. They made an insta page which eventually helped them gain more reach like other schools and unis. It's a hit for couples and friend groups. This is the easiest to manage imo but you have to buy a decent polaroid camera that can print first (ranging from 6k-12k not sure if this is accurate price in the Philippines) - school supplies like cute pens, washi tapes, and other "aesthetic" journaling materials - knitting is really good but time investment is a bit steep - ghost writing. Downside: time investment and can be mentally draining - if youre in college 3rd year, it's also good to start applying for jobs. It will help you break that awkward/feeling lost phase sooner when finding a job since you have work experience already. It's also a win because (1) you'll have your own income (2) you spend less time at your parents house (3) work experience. Just down side is on the time management part.
Those are things I can think of for now. Oh but if also I might add. Prepare a to-go bag for when things escalate and you really have to leave the house asap. It should have - 1 set change of clothes - emergency money - canned food/instant - any thing for self defense like scissors or pepper spray
Fingers crossed you won't be using that but it's best to have those things ready for when you're physically in danger. Please stay safe you guys :(
Also if you have teachers, family friends, neighbors, or relatives you can trust, please reach out to them. And if it helps (I'm sure it will help) document everything. Make a time/date log of what happened. Take pictures of your bruises if it's physical, audio recordings, videos, etc. Anything you can use as proof
Worst case scenario, you can run away from home when you reach 18. The police cant treat you as a missing child or force you to go back home against your will since your of legal age already and considered as an adult
I forgot to add earlier, also include your birth certificate and IDs in the to-go bag (if available)
Alsoooo I found this quick search from Google. Maybe they'll be able to provide more help:
The National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) Crisis Hotline: You can call 1553 (Luzon-wide toll-free landline) or mobile numbers 0917-899-8727 / 0966-351-4518 for immediate, free mental health crisis support
Hi im your ate. I am sorry that you have to experience those and also living in the ph where you can only feel hopeless, wishing to burn the govt alive. But this is not a life sentence. You and your friend can escape.
You have decades ahead of you two. This is not the end.
Firstly, do u have relatives you can trust? Please go to them. Bring your friend too if they permit. If not please stay put (filo relatives are like vipers)
Secondly, document everything. Take pictures video audio recording of the abuse. Write detailed logs of timeline. EVERYTHING. If u have a clinic at school have them look into the physical bruises as well. Doesnt matter if they ask as long as it is logged into their files. Make a trail. You dont know when you need those but better safe. Have your friend do as well.
Thirdly, have a copy of all your documents. Birthcert ids etc. it will help in applying and anything legal related. Those documents are key.
Fourtly, do you have guidance counselor at school? One that you can trust not reporting to your parents? Talk to them.
Fiftly, you CAN talk to authorities, but not barangay or local police. Think lawyers. Or the DSWD. Ask protection and file against them under VAWC (violence against women and children) our justice system is shit, but it is not so helpless to ignore you. Dont think about the money or anything. Ask for pro bono (free service) or delayed gratuity. Not all lawyers are moneysucking vampires.
But they can only help you escape this early.
Sixth, i really dont want to suggest this cos we need you kids to stay in school and develop critical thinking to vote properly in the next election, but. If youre 18 already, look for call center or VA jobs. And move out the week after you are hired. Stay in the office or look for boarding house that can let you stay ahead before anything (its rare but you can plead) Use your salary for deposit and save until u and your friend can stand on your own.
Ive sent u an email for links and hotlines, please consider them.
Burn your helplessness into determination. Sadly our country is shit so only the brave can escape. And its you two, you both are brave so escape.
