Yes, the incest IS weird (even if they’re not blood related), but I’m glad that it gets resolved and the MC has a redemption. It’s no denial that the author’s choice is quite weird, but you also have to take in mind that the dynamics the author chose weren’t malicious or swept under the rug. (Like many other BLs where problems are forgotten)
Can we also talk about the communication? I’ve never seen such communication skills be used so often in BL Manwha or just Manwha in general. The way they both care for each other and yearn for each other makes you feel (even if you think is boring) somewhat content. I’ve cried many times during it because it was so beautifully written. Idk, maybe I’m js sensitive but it never gets boring (only during chapters 30~40). I recommend!
Apparently, when people find this boring, instead of admitting that they just prefer toxic shit, they exaggerate the incest thing as an excuse for why they supposedly don't like the story. And what people conveniently forget is that in stories where authors actually use incest as a trope, they usually still make the characters end up together. Here, they don’t. The whole boundary is actually addressed, they acknowledge that what happened was wrong, and they both admit that it was something they shouldn’t have crossed. It’s not even the usual bullshit where only the bottom is made to feel guilty while everyone else gets a free pass. Both of them acknowledge it was wrong, and they move past it.
I genuinely think people have become so accustomed to toxic relationships that anything that isn’t constantly abusive, manipulative, or messy gets labelled “boring.” They keep demanding something “more complex” when half the time what they actually mean is more toxic. Not every story needs another twenty layers of trauma and fucked-up relationship dynamics just to be interesting.
