I feel like that's how it's supposed be yk. Since they are just oy hooking up it kinda makes sense that they are only gonna do it so that they can get some release. But still after reading long smexy smut scenes this just felt a little weird to me as well.

I think it's not as much rival to rival thing honestly. From the beginning, it was more like the smaller guy was always intimidated by Yoon being standoffish where he just doesn't know how to approach him. In a flashback it showed how the smaller guy cared for Yoon even back then, just didn't know how to approach. Yoon has a prickly personality but straight forward so yh it starts awkward at first, but because Yoon is still an honest fellow, it's a matter of when questions pop up along the way so that they get closer. It's awkward atm. because of the rumors and assumptions and the fact that they are both new at such a situation. I feel like it'll get more natural as the plot progresses. More than rivals to lovers it's like classmates who knew about each other coming together after 10 years of not having been around each other. They both left impressions on each other in high school without knowing it but one didnt know how tp approach and has a sarcastic personality while the other is very curt and straight forward with words so he ends up being prickly and hard to get to know at first. They basically need plenty character development to come their way atm.
