I feel like you need to have similar experiences with mc to understand his actions better, I kind of understand why people find him annoying but he was rejected and neglected all his life. He was always the odd one out in his own family. If you can't even get acception from the ones you should've been closest to it's not hard to understand how you can't trust other people easily. Yes he wasn't the most faithful person ever but It was right after a rejection, I understand why he seeked comfort in the first person that felt like cared.
Also I really like this artsyle, I miss when everything didn't feel perfect and out of a mold. I love how every character has their own life and thoughts/feelings too. It really gives a soul to story.
