General internet safety, dont click on links you dont know are safe Chips
Well, actually, there's a different reason why people need to stop carelessly sharing links to novels and manhwas on TikTok, Instagram, and other public platforms.
We've already had three major shutdowns announced or happen this year: Chrysanthemum Garden, Bto, and Tpas (the latter shutting down in a few months). Entire libraries, years of translators' hard work, and countless resources are disappearing because people can't resist broadcasting these sites to the widest possible audience. It's a matter of time before this site goes too, seeing recent events.
The Korean publishing industry is already hostile toward us, and drawing even more attention to these sites only makes things worse. The more publicly accessible and visible they become, the more likely they are to be targeted.
That's why, when looking for a novel, your first stop should always be Novel Updates, and you can do it individually. If you genuinely can't find what you're looking for, THEN ask around. And if someone shares a link with you privately, don't go plastering it all over social media.
People need to understand that their five seconds of internet clout can cost an entire community years of work.
