I also agree with you. Ruan is a very spoiled and narcissistic red flag. Cloden is such a pure and angelic soul and way too good for Ruan. Too bad Ruan will never be punished for his crimes. I can see him throwing tantrums and batting his pretty eyelashes to get his way. All that said, I really enjoyed this story because of the sweet childhood days reveling in the joy of plants.
I don't agree at all, he had no ill intentions towards Cloden. I would argue he didn't even want the random stranger he met that night dead, he just wanted someone beaten up in order to restore the honor of his family, as the heir, as the one who allowed that honor to be trampled on. What he did was wrong, and the consequences were devastating, bro really fell into depression and almost threw himself off a balcony- and all that due to that one time he tried to be a strict noble. I think he'll never try that again
