I mean I definitely agree that the mc is a piece of shit, but what exactly did he do that was wrong? His thoughts were fucked up and he did hate people for no real reason... but his obsession with being seen as a good person stopped him from doing anything bad. I mean he didn't try stop the bullying except for his crush's crush and even that was for selfish reasons sure... but even if he wanted to try to stop the bullying, the moment he steps in he becomes a target. Idt the ml had any right to highkey sa the mc. Imo the mc is just someone who played the game and fucked it up cause he caught feeling for the wrong person twice. If he didn't start crushing on them, he would've gone to college without doing or experiencing anything very fucked up... but now ig we can all see where this is going.
Again, just to clarify, not doing anything bad does not make the mc a good person, but it also doesn't make him a terrible person... I'd say most of the kids in his class as far as we've seen are just as bad if not worse... which makes sense cause they're only highschoolers.

To shed a bit of light why Yohan felt that Jun betrayed him is the fact that Yohan never knew where Jun's actions came from. If you look at what Jun did during that dinner in Yohan's perspective, it looks like a betrayal. Yohan knows that Jun is aware of his circumstances even though he did not outrightly said it but he knows that Jun is smart enough to actually imply about his situation. So if a person who you know knows about your situation but still ignored your situation and brought you to a moment you will be embarassed, you will feel betrayed. He felt like he ignored his plea to excuse himself from that dinner. Jun's motivation is good but his actions told a different story and he was ignorant of what he's actually doing, he overestimated his skills in fooling adults and he did not really know the full grasp of the dynamics and complexities of Yohan's family. Even all of those, he doesn't deserve to experience what Yohan did. The situation would have been better if they communicated each other's feelings but both of them are not capable of that as of the moment (and they are also teenagers so yeah there's the whole undeveloped prefrontal lobe)

I do agree that from the mls perspective it looked like a betrayal... but in reality it wasn't... mc tried to help the ml and failed miserably... he made the situation wore too... and he apologised for it multiple when the ml got angry. Does the apology make anything better? Obviously not, but it does show that he regrets his actions which the ml in his anger may not have noticed tbf.
But again my point is the ml can feel betrayed but what the mc did was not soooo bad that he deserves either the sa or the bullying. He made a mistake and regretted it.

And u said he was punishing mc for not letting him SA him, no he was punishing mc for running away after making him miserable.
