ive tried reading this a few times but i genuinely cant. this isnt even a good psychological story, it doesnt stick to its guns by portraying the rape as an actual "unforgiveable crime". i saw someone on here say that the rape was well drawn and made to look disgusting but it literally wasnt, they have jiwook doing the ahegao face covered in cum every few chapters. you cant justify him getting raped by saying he also did the same to juyeon, if you're glorifying one persons rape then you're glorifying every type of rape. you cant have your cake and eat it too
also the use of chibis to make things look playful, doing the shalala effect on juyeon to tone down his horrendous actions and paint him as just a pretty boy. idk why they didnt just go for a bdsm setting instead of all this. its actually such a waste of their designs and dynamic.

i had previous comment on here alleging that, i saw some people say that atleast its sort of a "psychological" manhwa when its really just the authors poorly disguised fetish
honestly it's my fault for expecting a yaoi manhwa to have nuance. most of these are written simply based on fetishes. my issue isn't with whats happening to the original abuser but rather how the act itself is being portrayed, as i said, the rape is drawn in a glorified manner, a lot of people justifying what happened to jiwook mightve even gotten off to juyeons original assault if the plot was different. thats why i said "you cant have your cake and eat it too."
i'm mostly just yelling into a void though because this manhwa is literally made for those with this specific fetish so really there was no point in me starting this discussion or hoping that it was more palatable to my personal tastes, i realise that now.
but overall i still think its written rather poorly though it could just be the manhwa adaptation screwing it up, i wouldn't know though as i wont be touching the novel anytime soon.
The novel is pretty much the same, it’s fetishistic, but I think the novel is a little better at building the atmosphere. Like I said, it’s misery porn. I think you can find nuance if you look, but I never went in headfirst expecting a tasteful, avant garde psychological horror. I’m just here because I like the idea of a guy in yaoi doubling his rape and giving it back to his rapist. But that’s not for everybody. This story was always going to be polarizing.
It’s not really disguised. It’s super blatant. The psychological components are there, but even the best dark/psychological nsfw BL like to lollygag and overindulge in the fanservice. Killing Stalking is guilty of this, with Koogi pandering to fujoshis constantly despite KS not being a romantic story in the slightest, but it’s still peak cinema so idc. I left another comment the other day talking about MADK, which is probably one of the most visually appealing BL I’ve ever read, and chock full of the author’s most extreme, taboo kinks.

whats up with nanjo? im worried his past behaviour with sunhwa will get retconned (treating him like an angel sent from heaven) when this chapter shows he knew sunhwas intentions, maybe sunhwa reminds him of a past lover? whatever the case it still doesnt explain why he humoured mokyeon for so long. also i dont feel bad for mokyeon at all and his actions shouldve landed him with worse consequences (ngl some of u are a lil too easily swayed) but still i think his character is written rather decently, i just hope nanjos character doesnt end up being a weak link in the story when everything finally gets revealed
