Well before she became a maid she works with various hard labor jobs so it said that her appearance is more exhausted-looking and covered in dirt. She's also malnourished.

Context is important. We are talking about how she is ugly (OP). If she says she is ugly and others sustain she is ugly, her assessment is far from unreliable on this matter.
