tbh in this case I would understand him. he values Maxi more than his title at this point. it'd be smarter in the long run, but I'd be pissed too (tbh if they will be separated for longer I AM pissed as well ^^)

One is a hotter looking older guy with black hair, the second is a younger guy, and they get captured/kidnapped/taken and turned into breeding slaves for some kind of beast-men... I can't remember if they are bulls or not? I think they had horns?
The older guy gets used to it (stockholm syndrome) but the younger guy keeps trying to fight / get away until the end when I think he just gets broken or something.

ngl this also reminds me of another manga I read before.. i cant remember the name, but the description is very similar to this. The only difference is that it had something to do with aliens breeding and feeding on humans, supported by the government (something about them controlling the global warming n allat) and it's not a bl..(honestly imo it was a doomed yaoi but who cares)

While I understand that he probably wouldn't have taken it well, I do wish she had at least clued Riftan in to what was going to happen... it's a horrible thing to just drop on someone right then and there with everyone else that your other half has chosen a path that will keep you separated for at least 4 years. A NORMAL person would likely be floored, but you know a dude like that will react so much worse...
i think its because maxi knew if riftan had known even the slightest bit beforehand he would never agree to it. for the plan to work, she needed him to be clueless. as horrible as it is, riftan also constantly kept maxi in the dark about the court and other stuff. had maxi didnt confront him, he would never told her too.
