I'm also not sure if I understood correctly either, but I think he betrayed some his own people to prove his loyalty to this kingdom. Because of his loyalty, he will be granted his freedom, and he will no longer have to live as a slave. Once he is freed he may be able to stay by penelope's side, not as a slave but as a lover or whatever he chooses. Tbh that's kinda valid, but what I don't understand is why or how he brought back Yvonne
I think he did it so that penelope would get kicked out and she no longer has to be struggling in that household and she's free to be with him who is also free from being a slave.
