A bit of a side note but I love how the "energetic and bubbly FL" is not just treated like an airhead in this series. There are still misunderstandings and frustrating moments with Haneul, but overall her character breaks so many manhwa tropes. She's direct in voicing her feelings when she needs to, but she's also mature enough to avoid being upset in front of Mincheol to avoid making him feel guilty. The emotional regulation is crazy. Of course that didn't work out LOL but it's still cool seeing an FL like her.
Mincheol can benefit so much from cognitive behavioral therapy. With a lot of MLs, they're assholes/abusive/emotionally immature, which can be difficult to change. In Mincheol's case, the issue is literally all about the way he views himself. His self-worth is nonexistent and he keeps repeating the same thinking patterns and re-enforcing his guilt.
I'm not sure if he can realistically get out of this spiral with just Haneul's help, because being honest with him hasn't worked so far. I think Mincheol's condition is presented realistically, but this also makes him seem more incompatible with her. You can only be so avoidant in a relationship before it's not a relationship worth pursuing. Mincheol's issue is more than a stupid misunderstanding so it's hard for Haneul to fix on her own.
I've never seen a modern setting romance where a character actually goes to therapy, so I guess it would be no different in this manhwa. However, I would find it so unsatisfying if this all gets resolved in one conversation with Haneul, because then what would be the point of all the angst?
100% agree. It also really puts more emphasis on the whole childhood friend 'complex'. But let's keep our expectations low, since the most obvious thing (therapy) could just end up being swapped for rose-tinted glasses (love fixes all aka girl can save boy). It could also be said that together they have more of a co-dependent relationship than anything. Let's pray it gets healthier
All that foreshadowing and character arcs just for her to be the exact same character throughout the whole manhwa. Don't get me started on how Inseop basically became a shell of himself. Also how did the brother go from relapsing into suicidal thoughts multiple times to recovery without FL doing anything differently. And why is that fake friend still here. Psychological thriller but the climax was the least thrilling part. This is like that picture of a horse that's well-drawn in the first section but then turns into a kindergartener's scribbles.
I'm on chapter 14 and I'm SO MAD for Paula... IDGAF if he's traumatized, throwing objects at her like a 2 year old and nearly blinding her is insane... I cannot believe she has to gentle parent this manchild when she has objectively had a worse life... If I was in this manhwa he would already be guillotined!!
Anyway my question is, does he ever apologize to her?? And by that I mean literally knees on the floor, grovelling for forgiveness. He needs to feel SHAME and GUILT. I don't think I can keep reading otherwise. Spoilers are okay!
I love to go back when I was reading this manwha before and I don't see this kind of comment. This, without even atleast reading half of the manwha? Of course you're not going to understand, you've only read up to 14? Bruh. No spoilers for you but it's good you stopped reading, nothing good will come from forcing yourself to read something not right up to your alley (=・ω・=)
Yes and no. He doesnt straight up say hey im sorry for doing this specifically. He stops doing these stunts as he warms up to her, starts to truly respect her despite having such a harsh start due to his blindness induced depression. I symphatize with him but its inexcusable. If its not your cup of tea then i suggest you do not read. But if you want something that will show character development, slow burn love and both of the characters navigating through their own set of harshships, you could give it a try. Her trauma and overcoming it is a huge part of the story especially later on
Okay, thanks for telling me! I really like the main character so maybe I will pick it up again some other time.
I guess to respond to the other comments: it's incredibly common for MLs (in any genre) to not need to apologize properly and get away with the actions that took place while they're still "cold" to the MC. It's weird and puts a bad taste in my mouth, especially when the ML is in a higher position of power. I want to avoid this trope so that's why I'm asking preemptively.
Y'all need to understand the fact that all of this is not happening in current era but medieval era. By this name itself you need to understand. ML this ML that. ML being lovely dovely like this is also rare back then. All these troupes are very fantasy shit. I have seen your kind of comments in almost many manhwas and i just feel like y'all dont get the concept itself. Try to think atleast before bursting out.
Okay firstly, the historical genre in mainstream manhwa is not historically accurate at all. It's a fantasy version of a monarchy. Victorian inspired at best, not medieval. Also my issue is not about ML being lovely dovely, it's about him hurting MC physically. That's super weird! If it's going to happen, I would at least like ML to feel some remorse. I've read a lot of historical manhwa and this is the only one I've commented about. Try to not generalize.
I mean if its an apology u expect i dont think u should pick it up. Its one flaw in this but i dont think it takes away from the story unless u cant look past that. Despite being hurt and depressed he was immature and inconsiderate at the beginning. If the fl wasnt as headstrong then she wouldve left like the others, but she gave it to him straight up. No spoilers but he did straighten himself up with the push she gave him. No she doesnt babysit him throughout the story and its instead like help through a tough time and navigating his blindness. It will later sort of turn it around with him instead trying to help her on the novel ive heard.
ok fyi u only have read 14 chapters and let's not forget ml has also went something traumatizing which is losing one of the sixth sense, obviously he'd be sensitive and not trust people that easily since the reason for him going blind is because of SOMEONE. The fact you're already hating even though you've barely read a fraction of the chapters shows how judgemental you really are. im not asking you to give this a chance, what im lowk asking u is to gtfo and drop ts if you're gonna be a bitch about some story you haven't even fully understand and read yet.

so i remember this being tagged as yuri as well on some other platform (maybe bato?). wondering if anyone knows which chapters have yuri in them (if there are any). thanks all <3
