They redeem themselves as individuals first before redeeming themselves as partners, it takes a long while for it to move forward but let me tell you this, they don't erase his past deeds, in fact they discuss it multiple times! I won't spoil too much but even Annette doesn't just put his deeds in the past
This story is like the most tragic slow burn i’ve ever read tbh. If you write out everything he’s done, you’d definitely wonder why fl took him back. But at the same time it’s so tragic how annette has to be the one to shoulder her dads mistakes, and how her ignorance and lack of empathy slowly creeps up to her. Anyways if you really don’t like this story then I guess It’s not for everyone. The underlying problems are hard to understand and the plot can be pretty slow at times!

Why does the white haired girl feel so entitled to the female leads life? She not even related to the family or adopted. Couldn't she just use the energy instead to go marry a noble or something? Seems easier imo
Short answer: she's completely delulu but her goal is to cement herself in the highest position possible.
Long answer: she's a narcissist and classist. She thinks she deserves it for suffering the family she was born into and that she's destined for greatness. She sees the MC as someone undeserving and someone who squanders her position in life, aka she should have been the stereotypical evil rich girl she emulates behind the mask instead of looking like a happy airhead. By seducing the men, she feels she's going up the ladder and she'll eventually get what she deserves, which seems to be everyone's attention and perhaps she can even drop her facade. She sees men as tools and pretty women as obstacles she has to "cunningly" eliminate.
Normally I would get annoyed with a main character that is so self loathing. But her anger and resentment is humanizing. And yes, she shouldn't lash out, but its realistic. I feel like a lot of times stories hyper focus a characters sadness because it easier to look good then a character being angry and lashing out, which is also realistic.

And she is in the right to go off on the white haired girl. She told her multiple times to go away and not touch her. Obviously beating her up later was a bit much, but pushing her away was justified. Also it seems like the white hair girl is either dumb as hell, or trying to push her buttons. Almost like the brother does.

This is angst as hell, but im loving it. Honestly the female lead weirdly reminds me of Eris from Kill the Villainess. But if Eris has a more angsty life and crashed out. From the looks of it, her siblings started treating her like trash first. I hate it when people treated illegitimate children shity when the kids never asked to be born.
And to be honest FL still seems to have a moral compass, even if she acts like a spoiled bitch. Even after all the shit she dealt with. Like she's nothing in the realm of evil when it comes to the actions of some of these historical romance villians. I kinda want to see her crash out more. I loath the twins so much. Like I get the beef, but the twins dont seem like good people either and I get a bad vibe.

exactly, like the parents "sin" shouldn't be suffered by the children. her way of acting out and being a "villainess" is js a facade to make her look tough. well she HAD to be tough growing up because she had no one and everyone was against her. it's so obvious how deprived of love she is that i personally think that by arguing or scolding people, she gains the attention she never had. the power she never felt she had. and she shouldn't have to use vile tactics js to be loved, but that's how she's always been so I don't think she knows any better. very heartbreaking. I like how she's written.
