Like can the creators not make anything that doesn't have any rape in it, like can't you develop as human beings? I feel like this is like really showing us what the craters are like in real life and what they fantasize about. Like BWAT Most of their manwas are rated high and it's not rape it's usually consentand. Exactly! I admit I enjoy (some) hurt/comfort stories, including those with SA in the past of a mc, as there are some that are actually really good at dealing with the aftermath/trauma in a realistic way and show how the main character heals thanks to the love (romantic or familial or simply friends) that surrounds them. So these BL authors COULD insert rape to portray how a victim can move on from it and become happy together with their lover, as a way to raise awareness about such themes as well, but 95% of the times it's clearly just there as a kink that the victim just gets over like its nothing. The worst ones are obviously those where the rapist is the male lead himself cause WHAT THE FUCK
Because there is a demand for this. There are consumers who like those themes that I don’t understand why.
For the specific kind I’m assuming you’re talking about (rape porn, as I call it) I would agree. When you think you can substitute character interaction and connection with dubious or forced intimacy, that’s just poor writing. The issue for me, I think, is that because of these mindsets and this specific writing tactic being popular, any use of the act as being framed as wrong or leaving lasting effects pretty much goes down the drain for instead using it to add more sex and slap the label of ‘romantic angst’ and call it a day. Honestly, even stories that dip into the psychological genre and might approach the topic with nuance rather than disrespect are suffering from this. They either get torn to pieces or readers will completely miss the whole point of darker characters meant to be bad, and instead focus and uplift the sexual aspect and even make excuses for them.
Look to put it simply; if something is supposed to read like a romance that is meant to show characters connecting for the sake of romance and decides to replace plot for assault and mindless dubcon you lose any actual control over your own damn characters. Suddenly mr mc alpha is just a guy who gets angry at the bottom breathing in the direction of other men and using daddy issues as a half assed excuse for his actions, that is not a gripping story. ‘It’s toxic yaoi what did you expect it’s the genre’ toxic yaoi my foot, using a sensitive topic constantly as your toxic aspect of your story is just insulting, disrespectful and really just lazy writing.

But in this manga I member she waa on a mission and they were hiding to find the crimanal or something. Her police members said "are you wearing lipstick" or something along those lines.
