I can't keep reading this. You have a prince that's only doing anything cause he personally likes her and a king that ignores not just his innocent wife's isolation (and endangerment) and the harassment of his people (the nobels and their subjects and their businesses) by his sister and dismiss it all as 'conflict' when it's a challenge to his authority. This is the junk that starts revolutions especially since the young and new novels can't participate. I'm sorry, I guess I can't take this story lightly because I see a toxic family messing with the everyday people just because XD

I understand what you mean, but here’s how I look at it. The crown prince was pretty much loyal to the crown above all else—even himself. Meaning he had no say and was essentially meant to follow his father’s orders and stay neutral on matters as volatile as the one between the empress and duchess. So if he did something contrary to his father’s desires, it meant it actually mattered to him.

It also puts the emphasis on the fact that no matter how much the emperor claims to love the empress, him not defending her or protecting her for the sake of being neutral, might not be the entire reason why he’s done the absolute minimum about it (like sending his sister away for two years). He’s like most men who would rather stay out of the conflict between two women, especially two women they care about. The fact that his son does everything to protect the woman he’s fallen for while he barely does anything for the mother of his children kind of puts it all into perspective.

Anyway, the 3 leads (Peresia, empress and crown prince) have been a pleasant surprise for me so I figured I’d share my two cents.
