To veteran readers,, with hundreds or thousands of titles PLEASE tell me how you work your notifications
Like I actually can’t imagine having 100 plus updates on titles,, HOW do u get through them every single day..??
Had an account with a thousand bookmarked, and honestly it's very easy. I just tend to marinate a lot of stories, and only read the ones that I wanna catch up in. Plus, not every story I have bookmarked have any more updates. A lot of them are completed. I'd say the amount of notifs I get daily is prolly 25(lowest), and highest is like 40-50ish. I just skim through and see which one to read lol
I'm the type that literally CAN'T focus on more than 20 stories at once despite having almost 2000 stories I have read, so I just keep the notifications for the ones where I'm EXTREMELY curious about the continuation and label as 'already read' all the others (removing the notifications). When one of my already reads randomly comes back to mind I just check out the chapters that came out after I dropped it. So basically, I obsessively follow my current favorites but marinate everything else and only continue what I'm marinating if I randomly become interested again after months/years

Yall I cannot read stuff anymore normally. Like I dunno how to explain but each time I read I feel like I have to check it again, read it out loud, reread, I can’t read anymore. It’s so weird I don’t know how to fix it??? I’m just not reading normally or as fast as before, it takes me like 10-15 minutes to finish ONE chapter of a manhwa??? It’s like reading block…but I can’t seem to fix it. And it’s making me mad because I really want to read but ii can’t read properly ??? Anyone else gone through this before??? And if you know how to stop it??
i dont know it's prob bc u were not stimulated enough to read it very fast? is the one story youre reading rn perhaps boring? try rereading your fav story,, if u can still consume it at a fast pace then what ure experiencing rn is prob reader's block
just give yourself a break, if you love mangas it’ll eventually come back to you. I got sick of reading and not even my favorite rereads were interesting anymore, even new stories that I thought were boring are ones I now love. I didn’t read for months (doesn’t have to be that long) and then it just came back. save the stories you want to read for later
are you getting enough sleep? lack of sleep and stress can put a hamper on how well your brain computes info so maybe just get some rest
ur dopamine receptors are probably fried bruh bc of the abundance of highly stimulating short-form tiktok videos u consume.
i suggest taking a break from tiktok, yt shorts, or js any social media for a week or two
try to lessen reading manhwas/mangas that are flashy and anything highly emotionally-charged if u can
it will take some time to rewire ur brain
Try sleeping more and going outside and looking as far as your eyes can see
And if the issue persists go see a doctor
I js reread one of my favs,, and I have the same problem, it’s like I overthink what I’m reading? I do think it’s readers block but it’s so weird because it came out of nowhere. I was able to easily finish a 70 chapter manga/manhwa but I can barely get through one without rereading, saying it out loud, or going back. Thank you for the advice tho.
That’s what I was thinking of doing, but I really don’t know if I can bear to part ways with my daily updates, don’t wanna miss anything important. I’ll just stick with my updates for now and not start anything new. Thank you for the advice tho
I get a good amount of sleep like 7 hours or more. (I do stay up but I still sleep the same amount of time I just wake up later.) but I do think my sleeping might have something to do w it because I constantly need to reread or go back to something to fully understand ir(?) if that make senses, it’s just weird thank you for the advice!
Funny thing is, this all started happening when I started to use TikTok (I have TikTok but I don’t use it very much before, but I made a new account and started spending way more time there. And before I used TikTok, I used to just read in my free time reading like all day that’s all I would do) so yes I think TikTok has something to do with it, I do think it fried my attention span, not too sure about the reading part tho. Thank you for the advice!
I will! Though I do keep my phone close to my face while reading because I use glasses :,) thank you for the advice!
it's okay. just do what you can. good luck
based on all your replies, i think i kinda get it bc i also can't start a long ahh manhwa now unlike before
yk try to remember that reading these typa things are for fun, if you find it taxing, or u feel the need to exert an effort js to understand it or u need to overthink,,, then prob stop for a while
try consuming another form of media like novels
This happens to me when I'm reading something I just don't enjoy but feel obliged to finish it bcs I started it. I just stop reading if I find myself stalling to read it, if it's a good story I'd get sucked into the work and read with a good flow
Yeah! I think I’m just pushing myself to read more because of fomo,, and not for fun anymore :,( once reading started getting more stressful then fun I should’ve stopped for a bit . need to start consuming novels more. Thanks for the advice!
Yeah that does happen to me too,, but now it’s even w my favs
