Bruh that’s literally what I said. Southeast Asian artists often avoid saturated, tan skin tones because a colored person actually being tan or brown instead of ashy grey is somehow a paradox to them. I’m literally pointing out the lack of effort in how darker skin tones are illustrated in a lot of Southeast Asian media, calm tf down bro.

I think what they mean to point out is the south East Asian part. They are actually more prone to darker skin tones, or tanner than other Asians up north from them because of location and climate. I think you might be thinking more about South Koreans and their keenness for paler skin (why, who knows why they think that way) whether its status, beauty standards, or just plain ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ reasoning. Regardless of where they’re from tho, they just need to learn more about coloring. Darker tones shouldn’t have gray under tones because then it looks more muddy and less bright and realistic. I think more complaints will open their eyes towards it tho lol. I don’t think you’re wrong by the way just a mix up of south east vs south but I think I got what you meant

Gurl, what are you on about?? This is clearly a Chinese one not SEA...? And, saying that tan or Brown is a foreign concept to SEA... dude, google is free. I'm literally brown, my sister is brown, my brother is brown, my mom and dad is brown, my whole family is brown. It's not a foreign concept, may it be on rl or artworks. You're so wrong for this. Do a research first, you're spreading misinformation.

Thank you for explaining, that makes so much more sense when someone actually breaks it down for me. I think I did get the regions of Asian countries mixed up. But yeah the paleness beauty standard in countries like South Korea and Japan have definitely inhibited the creation of good POC character designs. Lowkey some of the newer anime’s and graphic novels have gotten better at POC representation, but there are still lingering issues here and there.

Calm down bro I meant East Asia. I got the labels of the regions mixed up, but that doesn’t change the fact that pale beauty standards in China, South Korea, and Japan don’t affect POC representation. A person of color is quite literally an “exotic” or “foreign” appearance to people in those countries and this is coming from a half Chinese/Japanese person. Why do you think people in China ask to take pictures with random Black tourists, literally look it up. I may have miss spoken when I said Southeast Asia instead of East Asia, but since you know this manhua is Chinese, you should know how poorly brown/tan people are represented in their media. I apologize for the misunderstanding but my initial criticism apart from the region mislabeling is not incorrect.
