I’m super grateful for the translation, but the translator’s note at the end of this last chapter is completely off.
Evil and stupid aren’t mutually exclusive. Daddy dearest’s evil might stem from his extreme stupidity, but he abandoned his wife who he knew was on borrowed time and confined her even in her own home. He abandoned his daughter from the moment she was born and when the only parent she ever knew died, he left her in the care of a woman he only knew horizontally.
He says he was focused on protecting the territory, but it seems like he didn’t bother to handle any of the duties that hold such a territory together. The way he was going, he could easily have come home from one of those hunting trips to find the place torn apart in a rebellion.
His actions say he never really cared about his wife, child or the county and did only the work he was comfortable with while fobbing off the rest as someone else’s problem.

I’ve tried to read this 3 times now and I just can’t get into it. The art is so beautiful, but the writing is subpar. It’s the kind of story where characters experience something terrible, develop trauma and overcome that trauma through a hug within a chapter or two.
exactly its hard to empathize when we barely explore her trauma. On top of that, all we see Aisha get is love therefore this story lacks emotional depth.
It was a nice palate cleanser for me after I read a dozen or so far more cruel and dark regression stories. But I do agree that there was no real emotional depth. Just "lets talk it over and hug, and now everything is peachy again!" That's not how dealing with negative emotions, let alone actual trauma, works...
It’s a pretty good series, but the translation can be rough to get through sometimes.
Why the hell would you offer up your personal business to someone who presents themselves as your enemy? Even if she hardly ever left her room and only stayed in her castle when she did, shouldn’t she at least know how to use authority with staff? Just order the bitch confined to a room or even an annex until you’re ready with a response for the emperor. Then include a note to say that she is disrespectful and no longer allowed in your territory.
Listen…I’m not trying to be a buzzkill for anyone who does like it, but I gotta put out a warning: These characters are all very dumb. Do not go into reading this series expecting anyone to act with even a little sense. This is fluffy-headed nonsense good for turning your brain off, that’s it!

That's so nice of you to warn people. I'm gonna read it anyway, since these characters aren't close to peak stupidity, but it's definitely not a smart story
Stopped reading after the fl fainted into the ml’s arms the third time they’ve ever seen one another, only for him to put her in his bed and (after a few steps) strip and change her. She wakes up to this and screams, but when he explains she ends up being the one to apologize.
Be so for real rn… this is sexual assault even if he wasn’t turned on by it. AND SHE APOLOGIZED?
The story starts with the ml wanting a fake wife so he is free to live as he pleases. After being raised to be a perfect ducal heir (by parents who are introduced as kind and well meaning), he develops a personality that forces everyone else to comply with his whims wherever he can and sees no problem with this. Even his lover is someone he fell in love with because she wasn’t interested in him and treated him as an amusement. He threw aside his duties for someone who never seemed to even love him back.
I really liked the fl, as someone who saw through this behavior and decided that it simply wasn’t her problem. She accepted occasional annoyances in exchange for also living how she pleased, but as the story goes on, the ml shifts his interest to her. He invades her space with no consideration for her or their staff (Yes, I know it’s his house, but it isn’t his routine). He suddenly decides he loves his fake wife and of course she should simply love him back.
After seeing him one-sidedly alter their contract, and the fl only managing to tell him off for his bad eating habits instead of the way he treats people, I had to drop the story. I’m not interested in watching him get rewarded for his bs or the fl get forced into changing to suit him.
