I can’t even blame Rue fr, everything he’s been taught by society is flipped with Nain and he must be so confused by it. He learned that sacrifice and punishment are the only ways to truly devote yourself to the two Shahs. But Nain despises sacrifice and brutal punishments, so he cannot “devote” himself to Nain properly by society’s standards. Idk if I make any sense, but I just feel bad for Rue and I can’t make myself hate him

Honestly I don’t think the main story was fantastic or anything, just a decent story to pass time. That’s my opinion though. I think what makes this a great story was the side stories afterwards, which start at chapter 44. So if you can pull through the first 43 chapters I promise it gets better
My bestfriend only read this for Byul’s story (their kid) that’s currently ongoing; basically just so she can understand the family background. So I would say if you do read it, don’t take it seriously and try not to let too many opinions get to you. Also remember that the bottom is around 20-21 years old, and the top is around 24-25 so their mindset is VERY immature.
It starts out very questionable and kind of cringe but it honestly gets better at the end. I like the side stories and side couples a lot more, but yeah reading through the first story is very hard bc of the rape and baby trapping. It’s hard to relate to Hyesung and Dojin but if you can read to the end the kids are cute

Because of that, it has a lot of old omegaverse tropes that are just meh, but it’s still a pretty entertaining story. The main couple are both flawed in character but at least they find each other at the end. I honestly like the third side couple the most, and they’re the reason I ever reread this story lol.
Disclaimer though: The first two sex scenes have dub con because of heat and stuff(omegaverse tropes ugh). The next two have rape but then it never has it again. If you can get past those scenes, the majority of the story is about pregnancy after that. They never take the rape too seriously after mentioning it like once or twice too, so you’re never really thinking about it constantly.
It’s a trope you get used to when reading older bl, so if you’re not used to it or sensitive to that stuff, I would maybe pass on it and a lot of older bls. However, if you’re fine with it, then I recommend reading it since it is an og and has some pretty funny moments.
I recommend reading the author’s notes after the main story too, since they explain some stuff that people have misinterpreted.
I think a big chunk of the recent hate comments is people viewing this from the lens of the current bl climate, where rape is starting to be taken more seriously(thankfully). So when stories don’t handle it like other modern series, people get angry at old commenters and reactions, when the story itself at the time doesn’t take it that seriously. They can’t see the full plot and only take the few chapters they disliked as the full story. And if that’s what happens, I again recommend skipping a lot of old bls, especially old omegaverse bls.
