I guess you don't appreciate that love is supposed to keep you at peace.
Aiden ever since the beginning was portrayed as the perfect ML, he's attentive to Lili, he knows what she wants—what she needs. But he was making himself a person for lily to prove that HE is deserving of her love. Whereas Josh, loves Lili in ways that prove to her SHE is worthy of love.
If you haven't understood the story yet, Lili struggles her entire life with guilt and fear of living a "borrowed" life where she's fully convinced that people will eventually leave her when they find out the truth. So in turn she copes with avoidant behaviors, towards her sister most of all to protect herself from that heartbreak. She then tries to cling to the relationships with people she built herself.
That's when the "children" came in where they became a fortress of safety and comfort for Lili. But when she started to get used to that, some of them left... Of course in unexpected inevitable circumstances where it might seem unfair to most people but IT HAPPENS. More frequently than you realize. There are people that you think are the ones for you, but life happens and they become strangers.
Just because they aren't given the same weapons to a battle, that doesn't change the fact that a gun would most likely win against a sword. Of course in this case Joshua has the gun, but he won because he became a home for Lili. He did not dare use his advantage to one-up his competitors. He was just there ready to welcome her when she feels tired after she fights her battles. Because Lili is strong and he knows it, he did not shield her from it. Instead, he encouraged her, he took care of her, and supported her when she gets up to fight again. And for me, I think I would choose that kind of love as well. (▰˘◡˘▰)
Very well said honestly. I love all of them and the ending was so good and realistic. Cant help but get sad for Aiden a bit tho since he didn’t really have a choice with being away from Lili. I thought we lost him for a sec but I’m glad it was such a happy ending
