Solidly mid tier. I found it oddly cute. I didn't read past the finale so maybe my opinion would change if I did but I went into this expecting something super toxic and I feel like it was super tame for the first 40 ish chapters.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MANGAS EVERRRR. It’s anti war and anti colonialist themes are still topical decades later. Under all the gore I think it’s such a beautiful layered story about war, love, destruction, human nature, grief, and the loss of oneself. It’s also an interesting take on christianity, as both god and satan are villians in the end. I also cannot thank it enough for starting the classic ‘gay people are stuck in a time loop’ trope

SPECTACULARR! Moto Hagio did it again. I don't normally gravitate towards Sci-fi but every chapter of this was beautiful

Incredible representation of gender dysphoria that was revolutionary for its time, but the ending was deeply unsatisfactory and Fiona felt like an underdeveloped character compared to Erminia. Despite the minor critiques I have of it, this manga really stuck with me and I adore it. If anything I wish it was longer.

this one was really, really good. It kept me curious the whole time and once I got toward the middle I just could not put it down. I did find the ending a bit overwhelming but I loved the internal monologues the characters had, particularly Juli and I really loved the religious imagery / metaphors that this invoked.

Very beautiful and deliciously feminist. A lot of the comments on this are rushing to cry 'not all men' and that's how you know it's good. It presents a lot of really interesting ideas while also having a beautiful romance and compelling narrative, the art is charming too. Love love LOVE!!!

This is fucking incredible. Probably the best manga I've ever read, objectively speaking. I already knew she was incredible after Heart of Thomas but reading this made me realize that Moto Hagio is just a true master of the medium-- the title "god of shojo manga" is well earned. This is the most devastating things I've ever read and the use of visual metaphors within this is incredible. Panels of this manga haunt me. I cannot praise this enough.

I ADORE THIS. It's so campy and so funny I'm obsessed. I haven't finished it yet but holy shit this is a real gem. I don't usually gravitate towards comedies but this is just phenomenally done. I don't have much to say about it other than the fact that I think it's basically perfect and every gay person should read it.
