Okay it’s kinda obvious nothing will be going on with the student and teacher, idk why yall are freaking out, is it weird? Yeah, but they clearly don’t like one another I feel like it’s admiration more than anything and it’s obviously exaggerated because we’re looking at it through the lenses of the MC lol
So are we just going to ignore the violent rape scene or are yall so into gay sex and fetish gay people so much that you don’t care? Like that was honestly disgusting and yall are sitting here talking about “when are they going to get together” sick fucking losers
sure, both of them were really toxic towards each other, especially with their explicit "give and take" relationship, but they improved like hell for each other too. their improvement was slow, and pretty realistic if i do say so myself.
love doesn't just blossom in the air, and for these two, it certainly took its time, and that's what glued me to this story.
Wait why would you think ANYONE in this fandom condoned what happened to Brent? When this chapter dropped everyone reading at the time was horrified and rightfully wanting those dudes dead.
I also felt like the series suddenly ended because that was a horrific event and I wish there were more chapters so that they could actually talk about the assault honestly, but it seems like the author was rushed into ending the series.
I understand perfectly why you'd have this reaction, I too absolutely despise rape. Though only when it's deployed for shock value or otherwise in a really stupid way that adds and explores nothing in the story. In the chapter you are referring to... well it's not actually rape. The reveal is in the next chapter, so I get why you would have missed it if you indeed even made it to the end of the "rape" chapter. The would be rapist was provoked and manipulated into committing rape, but since the rape victim reveals himself to have wanted it and *planned* it, then it kind of makes it not rape. It's still dubious though, don't get me wrong. A real interesting situation to think about, that's for sure. A guy gets breath freak out over becoming a rapist only to have the rug pulled out from under him and the other guy is kind of psychopath. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
This can still not be your cup of tea, and that's perfectly fine, there's plenty of wholesome fluffy stories with none of this darkness to read instead of this. That's perfectly fine. In this story however, romance does eventually develop after this bad start, and that's what has people invested. It's not necessarily about fetishizing rape, being sick in the head or ignoring rape, just an exploration of a bizarre situation developing between two people who have issues.
I don’t think you’re into toxic shit at all when you’re this disgusted by dubious consent via a manipulative man orchestrating his own assault in order to find his perfect friends-with-benefits. This is a fictional work, we don’t want what happened between Hayden and Brent to happen to us personally, but the mentality of the two men over how Hayden was provoked into rape and Brent fully seeing it coming is interesting (to us, not to you).
10000% like why stay through the ordeal and try to label people who enjoy this type of character work from their supposed high horse
not every work would have the context spelled out as is and its such a shame that the layers of a/b/o as a genre get lost on people like them who don't understand the established grime in the tropes (alpha x alpha, rich people politics, power struggles in sex, etc)
this and harada's are pretty intresting dives into a/b/o politics (theirs focuses more on omegas) if you're into power players
i prefer white knights like hayden who play off really well with sharks like brett, but the writing on this is so good! they do obsession really well even with their previous work
so you really see brett as innocent here? because from what i saw, those scenes were intense, sure, but he wasn’t some helpless victim about to break. he wanted it. like, actively. if you genuinely think it was “rape,” then explain why he never walked away when he clearly could have. nothing was forcing him to stay in that physical relationship with hayden. he didn’t leave because he didn’t want to. simple as that. almost everything that happened had his consent. they were both losing control because of how aggressive and intense things got, but that was the whole point for him. he liked the thrill. that’s not someone being violated, that’s someone chasing it. and let’s not act like brett is naive. he’s fully aware of what he’s doing and what comes with it. he’s not a kid. if anything, he’s manipulative too. he literally provokes hayden and sets things in motion, so acting like he had zero agency here just doesn’t hold up.
