ML had no reason to treat Kyon like trash. Quite literally zero reason. But personally I don't care because Kyon liked some of it and didn't mind most of it so I'm not dwelling on that. But ML had no solid reasoning for acting the way he did towards Kyon. Him not being able to trust humans didn't mean he had to treat Kyon SPECIFICALLY the way he did especially when he was the most loyal servant there.
Ryan's character was just straight up horrible. Author even admitted it was on purpose and that they enjoyed seeing readers switch between hating and liking Ryan as it went on. And ofc that IS a first time reader's initial mindset but as you reread the story you realise how unfair Ryan was being again with NO reasoning and so it just becomes blatant hate throughout the entire story.
Reading something once shoes you ONE perspective. Rereading multiple times gives you multiple perspectives.
Look at the way he treated Kyon based off assumptions and even when wrong STILL treated Kyon horribly..vs how he treated Chris, the one who almost got one of his only remaining family killed with no intention of reversing the curse unless confronted. Ryan's character was just a d*ck and there's nothing wrong with admitting that.
Chris's character was okay and he's the only one your comment applies to. He did what he did because he was literally related to that guy and to simply put it, brainwashed. His character showed that he really did care for these people but simply wasn't strong enough to go against his brother
This manhwa itself is peak and just because people can call out how trash the characters were (Ryan) doesn't mean they need to read something else.

triple crown is the mature 18+ version that starts from season 2. I would recommend reading season 1 here (up to chapter 37.5) then going to triple crown and starting from chapter 1 there.
