Ok, crazy idea, idk if anybody got this idea but with the name "The Hounds of Sisyphus" AND THE STORY OF SISYPHUS, Could it be that the whole town is basically hell or purgatory? Like it could be that The Hounds killing all the people in the village because of Guwon's death. Killing all of them means it would trigger the time loop where it basically turn back time to when MC's arrival began or to a certain point.
Since Sisyphus main story is about the eternal punishment of a man to roll a boulder and for that boulder to roll away every time that it gets close to the top. Excerpt from Wikipedia, "...Hades accordingly displayed his own cleverness by enchanting the boulder into rolling away from Sisyphus before he reached the top which ended up consigning Sisyphus to an eternity of useless efforts and unending frustration". My theory is that that Guwon punish MC/Sisyphus to suffer the useless effort of saving the village and that the hounds are basically the boulder that would trigger every time that Guwon died, killing all the villagers and restarting the process of MC saving all of them. It would correlate with the scene of MC and Guwon mountain of dead bodies since it's basically not their first play through.
I totally think Guwon has already tried to break the cycle but now it’s up to jinwoo to finally break the cycle by escaping the hounds! Guwon is the only one able to remember this twisted cycle of constant death making jinwoo the only one left needing to be awakened. This is why I believe jinwoo is an unreliable narrator and why he is unable to remember his past. I even think that if jinwoo is able to defeat the hounds bloody rage or not betray Guwon in the first place the cycle might even be able to break. In some cases the Sisyphus can be broken by even the smallest changes but in this story the author might not even give a way to break it leaving the couple to be doomed repeating the story!!!
