The most recent chapter gave me secondhand embarrassment. He's all over Geonwu any chance he gets and Geonwu is spiraling on his own (?????). Taejun is two thoughts away from marking Geonwu, I swear.
IMO this was the nuanced choice, considering the feedback the author received. No one's being 'sensitive' about this topic and disliking romanticizing these tropes is not a wild take. It's actively unhealthy to normalize certain tropes.
Hasn't he suffered enough?? Young doesn't need to be saddled with this responsibility but he's so susceptible to being guilted. This is so unfair to him and I hope he realizes this isn't his responsibility ASAP.
Writing a BL about this time period in US history...featuring an indigenous character...and a white MC...people are rightfully doubtful and offended. It's romanticizing a horrific time period in US history where violence was wrought against multiple groups of people and BIPOC are still feeling the ramifications of this violence to this day and yeah, it's already giving white savior. I'm not feeling positive about the level of cultural sensitivity and knowledge it would take to place a story in this time period.
