This is surprisingly one of the best depictions of a suicidal person. A lot of novels/comics strive to write Minho the way Minho is but instead they just vomit a bunch of pretty words without exploring raw emotions and slap “abstract” on it whenever someone points out the nothingness in their works. When Minho cried, saying he was lonely, my gut was twisted. I wonder if it is because the author is a mega horny pervert so she connects with raw emotions better?
Anyway, I know that the author is a questionable person (as in her relationship with the characters) (I don’t gaf if the yaoi is dark or not as long as it’s interesting) and despises Minho however this story has potential. I’m not saying that this story is “bad” bad but if she ever hit her head one day, changed as a person and tweaked the storyline a bit, this could’ve gone gold on Lezh1n or whatever.
I know they want the reader to root for Chris but it makes me feel opposite toward him. First, let me say I give benefit of doubt to every characters. But damn all those Chris being sad kicked little puppy when he see Allen’s potential consort should make me feel sympathy for him and not Nathaniel?
Nathaniel is there even before og Chris btw. He has to see his husband goes to the consort place every night instead of sleeping with him, acknowledge that they sleep together and even go honeymoon tgt??! Chris experiences the pain of seeing his lover micro “cheating” and not once does he think of or sympathize with Nathaniel. Even when Nathaniel going to get dethroned, he only thinks of him bearing Allen kid wtf, being all oh I love Allen. Bruh he just called Nathaniel black heart chapters before bc Nathaniel doesn’t want another consort. What makes Chris miserable anyway compared to anyone else of this story. Allen, who is literally a cardboard of character imo, at least has some sort of cliche “aha you’re actually not my son” trope. Chris has nothing but oh pharmacy old life. His family love him. His servants love him. Even some random ass prince that is needed for one chapter loves him. How he supposed to fit this miserable hide away husband narrative this story push for when Allen dote on him every chapter. That’s Nathaniel!!!! He literally gonna get dethroned bc of his family and his bum of a husband can’t even do the bare minimum of wearing his fricking handmade scarf on the birthday party.
This story can be the “before” story for another reincarnated story bc the writing is that ass and it would have been more interesting anyway having the mc be Nathaniel!
I’m only reading this cuz im mildly interested and don’t think it’s great but like let’s be honest, Nathaniel was def a bit of a bitch to Chris first. But Chris was the one who understood that he wasn’t evil, and even covered for him. He doesn’t see him as bad, or much of a rival, just a bit jealous time to time, but is nice to him and even helps him.
IIIIIII don’t like Allen, specially since he only liked Chris when he changed. I really like Nathaniel and even before the new plot point hoped he would get his own person just like Allen did. I don’t think Allen loved Nathaniel or that Nathaniel really loved Allen, just wanted to act his part.
But ya I don’t like Allen. I like Chris and Nathaniel, and hope Nathaniel gets his own love story. I feel bad that Chris had to fall in love w Allen.
Nathaniel and Chris being together would be better than either w Allen.
Just finished reading, and I can tell the mangaka plans this manga deliberately. Sure, the seme is a two-faced asshole, but as the story progresses, the mangaka inserts the backstory to transition him out of it. You can tell which arc the manga is going into by some clue here and there, which is a great writing! The problem is this is too much for one volume, so the transition feels too fleeting. The plots are there, yk, and they emphasize them but not enough, so it fell short. If the mangaka had given more backstory involving how the seme fell in love with the uke, how his family is hypocritical, how the relationship btw the seme and his ex is, where or what even the seme was doing during the absence period, etc. This manga will be less confusing.
(However, I don’t really blame the mangaka for this. I can tell that they’re really passionate about this story. I get the feeling that they are only given one volume so we get what we get.)
