I can't help but think Shuraka deliberately came back with blood on him despite his fear of being rejected because of his violence. (Like what happened with his mom)
It might be unconscious, but maybe it's a way for him to feel in control of the upcoming rejection he expects from Tei... He thinks it'll hurt less because now he's prepared, and even purposefully showed himself covered in blood.
It's like he's giving Tei a reason to reject him, self sabotaging
