I find this story really fresh, because it’s clear that no one is a hero or a villain. They’re all complex and selfish. The losers in this story fail because they lack social standing, face systemic structures, and have personality flaws from trauma that lead to a lack empathy or social awareness. Both Rashta and Soveishu’s perspectives were so limited to their own experiences and expectations that they failed to consider the impact of their worsening decisions on themselves and the people around them, until it spiralled. I see comments saying Rashta is an exaggerated villain, but I disagree. She is a well thought out villain, I find her realistic because of what influenced her and her desperation to be more. I wish they hadn’t killed her, and instead given her the same grace as Sovieshu; allowing her a chance to redeem herself and see her flaws and apologise. Instead she became a victim of both her own selfish intentions and the uncaring intentions from the people around her. I guess we were meant to feel pity for her. The Emperor loved her naivety but underestimated what that meant in conservative society. All the characters are so nuanced. Even the Empress isn’t a good character, she’s just smarter and more capable and lovable.
ANYWAY I hope no readers get transmigrated into this shit show, this is the type of novel those isekai system bullshit love. Throw salt over your shoulders and rebuke it. Praying for you all.

I think that’s boxing in Rashta’s character, she is both Villian and victim. Once she joined the upper echelons she began acting even worse than them; abusing poor workers and killing slaves. She started as a victim and became the Villian.
Just because someone is systemically disadvantaged and a slave doesn’t mean they aren’t accountable for their crimes.
