I mean, yes, he wants to be with her, but in his eyes, she's just a child - a child who's repeatedly gotten into trouble because of the way she is treated within the family, while acting like a maid. It's true that the family told her she didn't have to be a maid, but she still is acting like one (which is behavior that I hate; this "I need to act below", when she literally could be a magician, like wtf does she mean she will be tied down when she would be welcome ANYWHERE once she masters magic?).
And yet he's the one who said he basically didn't want her as a part of his family. I get that he said that because he wouldn't be able to marry her in the future if she became his legal sister, but it's still ass. How does he believe he can keep her in his house when she never feels like a proper part of it, because she's some weird element in between?
