Ok so like, the last panels of chapter 79 is so ominous. Like, will the ring that Subin found actually give Subin the ability to remember all the lives he had killing Woori?
Because in the last panels, it's hinted with a door that if the Ring goes back to the owner (which is Woori), that everything will be gone/return back to the beginning. (I'm basing this off of the unofficial translation, maybe the official translation will word it differently or something.)
Theory time!!
What can the ring do?
- I have a theory that the ring connects Woori and Subin's luck in a way. In a sense that all the bad luck that Woori can possibly get, will transfer in some way to Subin. Why? Because after Woori lost the ring/In his second life, we see Woori and Subin getting the same bad luck.
(Not sure though, the unofficial translation is a bit weird at some parts.)
If Woori is getting the bad luck now, why isn't he getting constantly injured in his other lives?
- So we know that Woori got injured constantly in his second life. He transfer to another school and become an idol. But in his other lives, he didn't get that constantly injured. My theory on this is that the reason why Woori got so injured in his second life is because after dying and losing the ring, his bad luck returned to him and it hit Woori full force and I think the bad luck got more tamed later on. And the bad luck sometimes sprinkle Woori's life in small ways that can make a huge impact on Woori. Like the when that cockroach fall on Woori's face, it was a small misfortune but it turned into a large one with him ending up in a coma. I also like to think that Subin's dream (the one in space where they're both in astronaut suits), that Woori letting go of Subin is a metaphor of the ring's connection between them disappearing.
So, if Woori gets the ring back. Will Woori get more lives?
- My theory on this is no. Solely because the ring disappeared on Woori after Woori first got killed. It'll make no sense if the Ring will continue to give Woori more lives, there's a reason why Woori got only 6 (7 if you count his first very life) lives, it's because that's how many birthdays he managed to have before getting killed.
Why did the Story made Subin the one to find the ring?
- For me, it makes total sense for Woori to not have found the ring first after it disappeared. The ring is just too much of an important plot point for the Author to just give it make to Woori. I feel like we're getting a total new arc where both Woori and Subin try to uncover the mystery behind the ring and why it disappeared in the first place, and why did it suddenly showed itself to Subin.
What happens if Subin wears the ring?
- I theorize that if Subin were to ever wear Woori's ring, that it would give Subin the past lives memories of him killing Woori. Why did I think that? It was hinted throughout the story that Subin knows/feels that Woori is used to death. In the dreams of Subin where Subin was chocking Woori, it was stated that Woori looks like he's used to the face of death(or used to dying). Why would the Author give us that? For suspense? Tension? Maybe, but Subin has been constantly under the idea that Woori wants or atleast knows he's about to die.
I don't think the farewell letter plot was just a way for Subin to get to talk to Woori, I think there's more to that. All the plot points of Subin noticing Woori's view of death (even if under misunderstanding) is a way for Subin to have this thought behind Subin's mind, the thought being Woori's death.
Now what would happen if Subin gets the memories of Woori getting killed by him?
- Now that's an interesting plot that the Author can take. Subin seeing Woori getting killed by his own hands. I think that'll make for a good psychological breakdown or meltdown.
If Woori were to die, how would our Subin of chapter 79 onwards react? How would our Subin react to him killing Woori, if he ever gets his memories of his last lives?
- if Woori were to die, Subin will absolutely become depressed (No shocker to that). And if Subin gets the memories back, Subin will have an absolute mental breakdown.
Thoughts on what the ending will be?
- I personally think the ending will end with Woori dying. DON'T SENT DEATH THREATS JUST YET, LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY FIRST—!! Now why do I think that? While I am a sucker for happy endings and absolutely hate sad, bitter endings. It makes total sense for Woori still dying, at the same hands of Subin.
Why?
- Because it fits the story so far. We get to see everyone improving one way or another in some way. Everyone got character development (though, I wish the friends got more screen time) that I love (The little sister is probably my favorite character in this entire story now). All the characters changed, but will that change Woori's fate? I don't think so! Even with all the changes Woori can have on the people around him, he will still die. I would also like to point out Subin's dream again (Man, Subin dream's should be copyrighted from how much I'm using them), the one where Subin and Woori is climbing up the stairs but Subin hers left behind. I thought of that as a metaphor of how much Woori knows, and how much Subin is really being keep in the dark of everything.
But what about Woori's past lives?
- While Woori's past Death's vary, I still think that Woori will by killed by Subin one way or another. While in Woori's second life that he dies of a heart attack. I like to think that the heart attack is STILL connected to Subin one way or another! Why? Because all other deaths have been by Subin's hands.
How?
- I don't know?! I just feel it, like a hunch. And if Subin were to remember in anyway possible, we'll be able to see!
Conclusion:
I WANNA SEE MORE ANGST, I WANNA CRY, I'M A MASOCHIST IN DISGUISE. Not really lol, I just really like complex stories that makes you think about the future of the stories in ways that your imagination can run wild. The only reason why I started to think about the whole Subin wearing the ring theory is that I wanna see Subin reactions to Woori being kill by him, that's all, XD.
Remembered finding this manwha from Connon's voice acting BL series. This was my introduction to old man yaoi. I don't regret it one bit.
How could I forget this?! Idk bout you guys but during the peak of this manwha. It was trending on tiktok BL. So much sad edits of this manwha that I gave it a try. I remembered reading this, not understanding a word and crying my eyes out if MC gets hurt.

Omg, my journey of reading this has been such a rollercoaster. I almost gave up in the earlier chapters because of how SUS the translations were. But I persevered, and I'm so grateful that I did. This story gave me such powerful feelings of dread, sadness, arger, hope and despair. All that jazz.
I especially love Police Hyun-Woo (the Police with a dead brother). His story of trying to find the truth to his brother's disappearance is just so heartbreaking, when we finally the truth, I cried with Police Woo.
I just wished we couldn've have more time with Han-Gyeol (the one that creates duplicate phones, with the emo hair) and Si-eon (the one with the snake demon tattoo on his back, fucked Gyeol). —(parallel to Hee-Seong(the pretty women) giving Jeoh(MC) knife back then) I had chills and was screaming in my head. "OH MY GOD THIS IS JUST LIKE WHEN SEONH GAVE JEOH THE KNIFEEEEE".
Not only that, the fucking politic corruption and murder plots were so good. I was confused with the politics cause there was so many people, so many moving pieces on the board (but I still had fun reading those parts.). Speaking of pieces on a board, I fell in love when the pieces(I forgot what they were called but it was always placed in the victims hand) started to appear faster then the smut. I was so invested since Police Woo was putting the pieces together, literally. (Also I love how smart the characters are here, fully working brain cells is so hot)
The ending was so good, it felt fulfilling and well-deserve after everything MC and ML went though, I'm so happy that Police Woo doesn't have actively have ill intentions with them, knowing they just wanna be left alone.
I hope we get side stories of what happened with Hee-Seong and her child in prison. And what's happening with our main couple AND second couple. I hope both the couples stay happy.
This story has such good characters and plot points. I'm glad I read this. This is my first saying this in this site but, kudos to the Author, I love this story and I hope they'll create more in the future.
Also, does anyone know if this is a novel? (With English translation), I wanna know if I missed anything from the story.
