Girl, wtf type of ending was that????

Saw this on the homepage and instantly got annoyed. I ended up dropping the novel bc I absolutely couldn't stand the ML, there is NOTHING he could do or say to redeem himself and no one who finished the novel can tell me otherwise! He's a psycho piece of shit that WALLOWS in self-pity, bitterness and insecurities and is too much of a cowardly pussy to sink into the depressive abyss by himself, so he dragged poor Annette down with him. He put more effort into beating her down than building up his own self-esteem, destroying her sense of self-worth bc he didn't have any for himself
