The manhwa made it look weird, but in the novel it was obvious it was more of a shock reaction bc Richard never acted like that before, and also the side effects of feeling a younger sibling affection and love for the first time, Richard even stated that he neither hated nor liked his brother.

You're welcome, tbh I am only reading it so I ha a visual for the characters, they changed many thing from the novel for no reason and it only messed the plot, for example the one where Richard told the duke that he made a deal with the emperor, that didn't happen in the novel, instead he hid that fact and made his own deal with the duke to help him get the crown prince, that's why he needed to steal the empress's body, bc the duke didn't know about his deal with the emperor, so it doesn't make sense for him to reveal everything and tells him about the terms of that deal, and Duke accepting to help him and hand him the empress only to later on show Richard planning to steal it, especially when in the novel, when he executed his plan, the duke willingly handed him the empress body and revealed he was aware of Richard's moves all along, like how are they gonna explain that without contradicting the whole previous events?
