People are triggered here when he criticised Jane s novels and characters. Get over your selves ladies. Not everyone likes Jane s works. Yes they are good but it s not everyone s cup of tea. The author made a realistic plot with this as most men dont like Jane s works, it s also a common critique of her works. That s like saying everyone should love Harry Potter or Star Wars.
honestly i personally felt like him criticizing Jane's work like that made him more attractive. Not only he read the stories very attentively, he also has strong personal opinion and preferences he is not afraid to share, but at the same time he managed to be considerate and not behave rudely. And his criticisms were not baseless or misogynistic, more like he had problems with the writer's character building. Loved it!
trueee I think it's better than a plot where someone just eagerly agrees with you about something you love it's more dynamic because it's not he's just insulting Austen or her love for Austen he actually has constructive criticism of her works and it shows unlike the men of his times he actually took time to read her works which shows to some semblance he does look forward to her works :p which miss pendelton also mentioned
