I’ve heard situations like the grandpa’s before, but I still can’t wrap my head around it. How can you continue to have children & live a “normal” life knowing you gave away your 1st kid. bc he didn't know. what he knew at the point was that he couldn't provide for both his ill wife and his daughter at the same time. he couldn't afford/get access to medical help, so he had to stay by his wife. the adoption center, however, had free food and provided shelter, and people commonly believe that it could provide children with a better life. so it was the obvious choice. he probably felt that she was in safe hands now, so he continued his life like normal. and it was most likely traumatic for him too and his brain blocked the memory, seeing as he said he forgot all about it. all he could do after that was live on like he always had lmao
