I read this before they got together and the last parts added what was missing! It could have ended a tragedy and there's nothing wrong with a sad ending however I think it was better for the main character to have to SEE the consequences of his actions when he was overcome by his anger and exhaustion. People make mistakes, horrible awful mistakes that hurt the people we love most, but if you put in the effort to make things right and truly understand why you were wrong then that lesson learned and reality makes a story even better!
If anything a happe ending was needed to show that healing is possible if you work hard for it. He gave him space they yearned and healed and they deserve to be together
Wow this is a 100/10
How are the characters and stories so well written, meaningful AND hilarious scenes that hit perfectly all in one story with amazing art.
This manages to capture a cute romance story with characters with complex backstories, an incredible and meaningful supporting cast of characters that are all loveable.
Their makeshift friend group is so endearing and the way the characters grew and matured wanting to understand themselves and others better was peak fiction. When they talked about how trauma and isolation affected them and only leads to more trauma was one of the best scenes.
A bi kid, two gay kids, and a lesbian friend group and the gay gangster big brother. Their sympathy, empathy and wanting to truly understand each other- how trying to and being able to relate to someone else helps you care for them and truly befriend them- just the entirety of their interactions with each other was so heart warming. I truly think sohae is autistic and has a genuinely difficult time understanding social cues. The way she tried to fake smiles and befriend people in ways that offended them when all she wanted was for people to like her back...
