I think he was just trying to imply that he's bi? It doesn't seem like there's big Gap - so I think he's probably is just teasing him by calling him a kid I guess
"kids" doesnt always refer to actual kids... ever heard of the expression "cook kids"? (for example). but I guess it could be confusing at first if english isn't your first language!
