That's it. The teacher is better. I'm sorry but the teacher is better.

erf ... he is quite versatile I mean he would rather agree with everything the master is capable of because he needs the power but the poor painter, he just enjoys giving him lectures and having someone follow him like that

I agree, he is too smart to ignore the feelings of painter-guy (don't remember the names yet --')

OOF you don't have the skills to catch manipulation and signs that someone else is not a good person:
-The teacher probably knows the painter is into him (ch6 "he would follow me around everywhere") and he does use that to his advantage

-"a low born such as yourself slandering a noble", "How dare you disregard property" -> Then goes onto talking shit about the noble plus he just insulted the painter with something that is out of his control. Ouch. It also shows that he cares about status a lot so the so-called "low born" probably wouldn't be good enough like ever.

-"You do not do things I dislike" -> It's all about him "I" dislike, suggesting that the painter should consider what this one man might think every time he does something. Also shows that he considers himself of great importance.

-The guys is pretending to help teach the children of the poor uneducated families but he really just leaves them for most of the time. The line about "wouldn't it be more beneficial for them to play in the dirt and the mountains from an early age?" is rude as hell and when combined with the context it suggests that the children are destined to be at the bottom of the social pyramid so they don't need to learn the skills that might help them excel.

If the story will choose the teacher as the main partner (which it won't), then at best it will be a manipulative emotionally abusive relationship. The red flags are already there.
