This was actually a pretty interesting story about obsession and love and what it means to love someone so much you’d give up anything.

The FL was a bit Mary Sue-ish and tbh it felt like she wanted to save everyone because she’s so ‘good’ but Pi and even Axel had pretty interesting character arcs, and I actually liked that they both accepted that the FL was more than just who she was to them. Pi is literally a deity and yes an eternity of unrequited love sounds hard but literally cutting out the parts of yourself with difficult feelings just isn’t realistic. Having emotions is complicated and you don’t manage them by regressing to childhood. You learn to not let them control you. And Axel realised this when he accepted that he may be willing to let the world end for love but the one he loves wouldn’t so he better try to do more. I think the importance of friendship was so prevalent as well. Pi was overwhelmed by loneliness but he just didn’t have other people. If he did he’d be able to find more to live for. Axel inadvertently learned that too. And I think it shows in his wish at the end, not to limit her but to be a refuge so that she can be who she is fully. That’s actually really beautiful, more so than casting the world into hell because she wasn’t in it.

I don’t know if the author intended to write a story about the danger or obsessive, selfish love but she ended up doing so. It made me think more than I expected and I liked that.
