EXACTLY. Like, yes, trauma can make people pathetic to the point where they struggle to stand up for themselves, but that doesn't change the fact that it was the AUTHOR'S choice to write that particular character that way. The author deliberately chose to make him the pathetic, spineless uke who spends most of the story getting pushed around and only starts growing a backbone much, MUCH later.
And that's literally a character archetype in BL! Some authors intentionally write ukes like this, so why are we acting as though criticizing that characterization means denying the existence of traumatized people? Nobody is saying people like that can't exist in real life. The point is that the author CHOSE to write this particular character with these traits, chose to maintain them for most of the story, and chose when to finally give him some character development
