they skipped the most emotional part of the novel. him being lost with a limp leg was so heartbreaking. the videos he recorded in the forest so that he stay sane and wont forget anything until the device dies? ... ough.. pain..

As a student of psychology when cases like this are extreem we do apply methods like these it's called systematic desensitisation in which you systematically expose people with their respective phobias to make them stop fearing
but wouldnt it be painful tho :(
It kind of is cause your exposing people to their fear we call it psychological distress but in some case exposure is the only way to get rid of the phobia as we need to rewire the brain into pushing the fear back and the cognition to move up because for phobias it's fight flight or freeze mode so exposing the GRADUALLY makes them realize that the situation or the things are not that ones harmful but that the fear is irrational. But again it is fine systematically where exposure starts small and distress levels are measured to keep it going out of hands
