It’s being turned into an anime

I absolutely loved this manhwa, but there were a few things that were brought up throughout the story that I really wish had been explored more because, by the end, I felt like there was a lot of unused material and potential.

1.) The Emperor’s bloodline curse

Bringing up the Emperor’s bloodline curse but never really giving us any additional information about it was such a letdown. I absolutely love our two princes, but after losing that many children, I kept wondering why they never seriously tried to find out what was causing it.

It could have been such a powerful way to connect Mel’s bloodline to theirs as well. Imagine two people who were essentially branded as being part of “cursed” bloodlines discovering the truth together and finding answers that had been lost to them for generations. I honestly think that could have been an incredible storyline.

2.) The Pope and the stepsister

I’m not exactly a fan of either the Pope or the stepsister, but I really wish we had gotten more information about their relationship and their history. There were so many questions surrounding them, and I feel like a few additional scenes could have given us a much better understanding of why things were the way they were.

3.) The vengeful spirits

Mel promised the vengeful spirit that she would help him get his revenge, and I was under the impression that the Pope was at the very top of that list. So when they ultimately didn’t seal the Pope inside the sword and instead having the author dragged him into the demon realm—or at least that’s how I interpreted the situation—I was genuinely disappointed.

Especially because the Pope was responsible for so much of the suffering those vengeful spirits endured. I really wanted to see them get their justice.

And honestly, I wish we had gotten a scene afterward showing the vengeful spirits finally moving on. After everything they suffered, seeing them smile, free from their hatred and finally able to rest peacefully, it would have been such a beautiful ending for them.

4.) Mel and our beloved Empress

Mel promised our beloved Empress that they would hike a mountain, eat some cheese, drink fine wine, and enjoy the scenery together.

AND WE WERE ROBBED.

That moment meant so much because the Empress became healthy and became the mother figure Mel had always wished for. Their relationship was genuinely precious to me, so I really wish the story had done more with it. Even just seeing them fulfill that promise together would have been such a beautiful little moment.

5.) Our legendary swordsman and precious Crown Prince

I would have LOVED to see our legendary swordsman and our precious Crown Prince find someone to love. We spent so much time with these characters that I just wanted to see them happy and settled in their own lives too.

6.) THE CHILDREN

This one especially bothered me because the entire story was so heavily centered around Mel’s dream of giving children happiness, joy, dreams, and a sense of purpose.

She started with a small business, turned it into a huge franchise, and was eventually given significant amounts of money and land because of everything she accomplished.

So why didn’t we get to see her create something specifically for the children?

I would have LOVED to see Mel build a massive playground, school, learning center, or even a place where children from every social class and race could simply be children without having to worry about politics, nobility, status, or their family’s position.

That would have felt like such a perfect culmination of everything she had been fighting for.

7.) OUR BABY DRAGON

This was probably my biggest disappointment.

We spent so much time watching Mel develop that beautiful mother-son relationship with our precious Danny, and then at the end we don’t even get to see him properly with his mommy, daddy, AND his baby brother.

I wanted to see our baby dragon become a big brother so badly.

After everything we went through with that little boy, I needed that family moment. I needed to see him interacting with his baby brother. I needed to see Mel and her family together. Instead, it felt like such an important part of their future was simply skipped over.

Again, I absolutely LOVED this manhwa. I’m not saying any of this because I disliked the story in fact, it’s the complete opposite. I loved these characters and this world so much that I wanted more from the things the story itself introduced.

I just genuinely feel like there was a huge amount of unused material and potential, especially with how much emphasis was placed on some of these plot points and relationships.

Maybe that’s just me, but I finished the manhwa feeling happy with the story while simultaneously thinking, “Wait… THAT’S IT?! You gave me all of these little pieces and then didn’t let me see where they went!”

I still loved it to absolute bits. I just wish we had gotten a little more closure for some of the characters and storylines that meant so much to us.(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
