Waterside Night
There's no description and the tags are vague so I had no idea what to expect. Y'all are fucking disgusting calling this romance. This is explicit violent rape. Stop romanticising this shit. Im actually disgusted by all these fucking children talking about how sexy they think rape is. Seek fucking therapy jfc. I will certainly not be continuing to read this.
Our Future (Cheok Kong)
Unpopular opinion: I was way more invested in the side couple. The main couple were just kind of flat. Any time they created conflict they resolved it pretty much in the next frame and that kind of lead to a boring story. They could have done so many more interesting things with the random supernatural element, too. Now, the side couple on the other hand is a story about a young man overcoming internalised homophobia which imo is a much more real and raw and important story. I wish they had actually shown us far more of that. More of Andy having to actually address and resolve his issues and fully come to terms with the effects of being closeted. For LGBT people thats a far more necessary and impactful story.
And I say that as someone who almost always HATES the inclusion of side couples because they're so rarely necessary to the story and honestly just kind of annoying and tedious. This time, for me, they were the story.
Popular opinion: I would die for a story about Niki finding herself a cute gf (and I would die for Niki in general)
Hell & High Water
At first I wasn't sure if I would like this. It was really confusing and hard to read but I think it was just things getting lost in translation with the first translator. I actually really enjoyed this! It was dark and twisted in all the right places without having to romanticise said darkness to deliver. This is how it's done. The plot was actually excellent and well thought out with no glaring plotholes mixed in solely for the drama. The characters were all unique, especially in their design (which is unfortunately rare in this medium) and the one's you are supposed to root for are all appropriately likeable. Even Ash who is portrayed as kind of an arsehole is likeable in his own way. And the ending was very sweet and hopeful. I would actually read this one again!
